Peter Nykoluk Rowing Award

Peter Nykoluk died on October 12th, 1990 as he came to the aid of his teammates who were involved in an accident that occurred when the University of Manitoba Crew was travelling to a regatta in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

A fund in memory of Peter Nykoluk was established to recognize individuals whose outstanding contribution to and/or achievements in the sport of rowing closely parallel the values of determination, commitment and sportsmanship consistently displayed by Peter.  The purpose of the Award is to financially assist athletes to pursue their educational goals while they continue to participate in the sport of rowing.

The Award is up to $9,000.00 depending on the number of finalists, and may be awarded to one or more successful recipients pursuing their university or college education in Manitoba. All eligible students are encouraged to apply.

Application forms and eligibility criteria are available at the Winnipeg Rowing Club or available from the MRA at rowing@sportmanitoba.ca

Completed applications should directed to the attention of the Nykoluk Selection Committee and can be dropped off or emailed to the MRA office, c/o Sport Manitoba, 145 Pacific Avenue, Winnipeg R3B 2Z6

The deadline for applications is September 30th.
