WRC Masters Perform in Copenhagen

Five members of the WRC competed at the World Rowing Masters Regatta near Copenhagen from September 8 – 11.  WRC member, Al Horn, also attended as an official and new WRC member, Scooter Fenton, competed for the Halifax Rowing Club.  Over 2,700 participants from 47 countries raced over the 4 days with the oldest rower being 91 years old!
Notable finishes included:
– Andrea Lefort & Freddie von Aweyden:  1st on Women’s C Pair
– Sandi Kirby & Pal Sandli:  1st in Mixed F Double
– Andrea Lefort, Freddie von Aweyden, Vanessa Brown & Sheila Wilson-Kowal:  2nd in Women’s C Four
– Sheila Wilson-Kowal:  2nd in Women’s B 1x
– Andrea Lefort, Freddie von Aweyden, Vanessa Brown & Sheila Wilson-Kowal:  3rd in Women’s C Quad
– Vanessa Brown & Sheila Wilson-Kowal:  3rd in Women’s B Double
– Sandi Kirby with Guylaine Bernier (Montreal):  3rd in Women’s G Double
– Sandi Kirby with Guylaine Bernier, Judith Lyster(Norway) & Tone Pahle(Denmark):  3rd in Women’s G Quadunnamed.jpg

Head of the RED, Saturday, September 24

Winnipeg Rowing Club (WRC) is once again hosting a Head of the Red on Saturday, September 24, 2016.  The event is open to novice, junior, senior and masters competitors. A number of different events will be offered — to suit all rowers’ abilities!

The race is a 5000 meter Stake Boat Race with a turnaround at the mid-point. All races start and finish in front of the WRC club house.

Registrations are due by Wednesday, September 21 and can be emailed to to headofthered@winnipegrowingclub.ca .
