Six Winnipegers headed west to Burnaby Lake this past weekend to take part in the 2014 RCA Canadian Masters Championships. Sandra Kirby, an international FISA rowing official, as well as the WRC Masters program coach, was part of the Official’s jury that ran the two day regatta. Officials from across Canada gathered in Burnaby to ensure the regatta ran smoothly and racing was fair.
WRC rowers Robert Dansereau, Ken Rannard, Dorothea Blandford, Erin Loewen and Barb Miller raced in a number of events. The five Winnipegers also teamed up with rowers from other club, such as Regina and Calgary, to form some composite crews and came home with two bronze medals in the following events:
Mixed 4x (B) – Rob Dansereau, Barb Miller, Dorothea Blandford, and Calgary’s Tony Toth
Mixed 8+ (D) – Erin Loewen, Barb Miller, Dorothea Blandford, Ken Rannard, and Regina’s Russ Hart, Bryan Hillis, Marc Ell, David Millar, Donna Ell
