Public Open House – Saturday, May 31

Now that winter has finally melted away… the Red River is ready for rowing! Members of the public are invited to visit the Winnipeg Rowing Club (WRC) during the annual PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE to find out more about the awesome sport of rowing!

Winnipeg Rowing Club Annual Open House
Saturday, May 31st / 12:00pm to 4:00pm
20 Lyndale Drive

Whether you’re interested in recreational rowing, or exploring the potential of a competitive sport, you can find out more at the open house. It’s your chance to tour the facilities, check out the boats and boathouse, watch rowing demonstrations, try dockside rowing, and be introduced to one of Canada’s most successful Olympic sports.

Rowing is a lifelong activity for fitness, for competition, or just for fun. The WRC offers programs for all ages and skill levels, including three designed to get beginners involved in the sport:

  • Adult Learn-to-Row Sessions – Beginning in June, this entry-level program for adults runs on weekends, or over a two-week period. It teaches participants the skills necessary to take up rowing, with the potential to transition into the novice program.
  •  Youth Summer Camps – Throughout July and August, week-long youth rowing camps introduce 11 to 14 year olds to the basics of rowing technique, teamwork, water safety, and other active pursuits.
  • Community Rowing Challenge – This eight-week program for businesses, organizations, clubs, or groups of friends, gets teams of four training together once per week, learning to row, and enjoying fun and fitness. The event concludes with a Championship Regatta on September 6, where teams compete in head-to-head races against other CRC teams.
