Flood Fight 2013

Flood Barrier WRC

The Red River Floodway began operation at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29.  he City is forecasting that the Red River should only reach a maximum of 20′ James and current sits at approximately 18.2′.  The new RIBS dike (installed by the City last week) seems to be holding the water at bay – but cannot handle water higher than 20′.  If the water level shows signs of rising higher than 19.5′, WRC will have to act quickly to erect our own barrier.  This means we’ll need volunteers with trucks to help pick up and deliver sandbags to the club, and others to help put up our own flood protection system.

Please watch your e-mail closely over the next few days for a call for volunteers.
